Mangwane mpulele

“Mangwani Mpulele” (also spelled Mangwane Mpulele) is a traditional Sotho folk song from Southern Africa. The title translates to “Aunt, open the door for me, I am getting wet in the rain,” with Mangwane referring to a mother’s younger sister. The song expresses a plea for shelter from the rain—an especially meaningful image in drought-prone regions—while some interpretations suggest deeper cultural symbolism, including themes of family relationships or marriage.
